There are different levels of auto detailing. The cheapest level may be merely washing the outside, like a car wash; the next degree may incorporate doing the interior and the boot as well and the top level may include the inside, outside and the engine.
Then there are levels of cleanliness within these categories too. for instance, the lowest degree might be to only vacuum the carpets, but the highest level may include taking them out and really laundering them.
Needless to say the amount of auto detailing you get will (or should) be reflected in the price. The lowest level might be $75 and the highest level $300 for an averagely dirty average car.
Larger and dirtier cars cost more. However, the car will be restored to its condition if that is at all feasible, so a good detailing before selling your car may reap rewards.
It is not too hard to learn how to clean the exterior of a car well, but it is more of a problem to do the inside because you will require specialist tools and small vacuum cleaner heads to get into all the nooks and crannies.
You may also want to wash the carpets without removing them which can be a royal pain, if you do not have that special apparatus.
You can certainly buy the waxes, polishes, vinyl and leather cleaners and you can even buy the apparatus, it is only that you may find it expensive to purchase and time-consuming to use.
Cleaning the engine is more or less just a matter of blasting the grease off the engine with a quite weak pressure gun using degreaser in the (warm) water, so this means more specialist equipment.
The brushes and sponges are all fairly normal as are the liquids and detergents, polishes and waxes.
Some auto detailing firms will also take care of minor repairs like a stitch that has come loose in the upholstery or a minor scratch on the bodywork.
However, I think that all firms ought to at least bring these defects to the owner’s attention even if repair is not in the price. Repairing a minor scratch on a wing can save that wing from having to be replaced in the future. Likewise with tyres, if an operative notices difficulties and reports it, it could save a blowout.
Waxing is an central issue. I think that there should be a wax included in the shampoo, because it will run into all the crevices and form a seal against rainwater. I am all for applying a second coat of wax by hand to the larger areas as well both for protection and appearance.
Do not bother applying a cheap wax by hand, because it will come off after a couple of rain showers. If you are going to do the job, do it in the right manner using a high quality wax that will protect your paintwork from the sun’s bleaching rays, from the abrasion of wind-blown dust and from the oxidizing rain.

Visitors enjoy coming to Sydney for multiple reasons. They come for business, for fun, to meet with friends and family. Staying at a Sydney Harbour hotel plants these guests on the edge of a stunning nautical wilderness. They can relax to the sights and sounds of surf.
At the Marriott on Circular Quay some rooms provide stunning views out to sea. This is the best way to wake up in the morning and a fabulous way to relax for bed at night. Watch the lights from ships gentle sway on the waves, hypnotizing you until sleep assails your jet lagged brain. From your hotel simply walk to attractions such as Sydney Aquarium, the Opera House or Observatory. Wheelchair users might like to know there are rooms here built to meet their needs specifically.
Bring the family and arrange for connecting rooms. This will give the older kids a sense of independence, while parents experience peace of mind. Help them to control air conditioning, set the alarm clock and set some strict rules about room service calls. Maybe with the work space provided they could be encouraged to do some homework or write postcards to grandparents while away. Several dining and drinking establishments await your pleasure downstairs.
At Harbour Rocks Hotel there are fewer than sixty rooms, meaning this has an exclusive feel. The Lanes is their indoor/outdoor restaurant serving contemporary menu options. Stay here as part of a package that takes you on a wine or ghost tour. Arrange laundry and dry-cleaning service to spruce up for fine dining on-site or at one of the many local restaurants serving local and international cuisine.
A stay at Sebel Pier One places you right against the water at Harbour Bridge. They even have a private pontoon. Their style is a mix of historic and contemporary. What each accommodation contains depends on what visitors book; each design is unique. Enjoy use of a gym, concierge and twenty-four hour room service. Keep tidy with an iron and ironing board, smoothing out travel-wrinkled clothes while watching programs on your flat screen TV or listening to music on your individual sound system.
Reserve a room or a suite. The latter will supply a day bed in separate living-dining area. Business guests may especially appreciate amenities such as voice mail, data points, internet plus secretarial services, courier and photocopying. Arrange for a wedding, conference or Christening package. Customers can even as for a baby cot to be put up in their rooms.
The Park Hyatt offers class and luxury to all of their guests. Feather pillows provide old-fashioned charm and fluff for tired heads. Hire a deluxe room and you could have your own butler. Reserve space with multiple phones and dual phone lines. You could also be working out in the hotel gym. Room service and business services are twenty-four hours. Engage the services of a secretary, arrange for courier delivery of critical materials, get photocopying done while your body suffers from jet lag and insists you should not be asleep (even if everyone else is).
The Hyatt offers a number of packages to accommodate families, couples and those seeking a way to energize. They also provide planning professionals to help make your event come to life. This could be a business event, social gathering or a wedding. Dining options run from the casual to Chefs table service, even a high tea.

Many travelers assume that staying at one of the many Jamaica villas along the coast is like a vacation rental. It’s actually quite different for many reasons. For starters, these villas are more like palaces than a home. Also, the facilities, amenities and service found in a staffed villa would make a luxury hotel or resort seem like a cheap dump by comparison.
This includes air-conditioning, television, internet, and a heated outdoor pool with direct access to a private beach or a beach club. Some of the villas even have their own helipad, spa and fitness center. Many even have sports courts and large ballrooms for functions and events like weddings or conferences.
The best part about these Jamaica villas is the staff. Guests should expect nothing short of an army to take care of everything from preparing and serving meals and drinks, housekeeping, laundry and transport. This means a chef and butler, housekeeping staff and a driver. If necessary, there’ll also be a nanny waiting to take kids off the parents’ hands. The chef will even arrange for the groceries and fresh local catch.
Life is good as a guest in Jamaica villas. All that guests do is laze around poolside or out on the patio with the butler hovering around with tall, cool drinks. If a guest can summon up enough energy to get out of a hammock or a poolside deckchair, then there’s plenty of things to see and do in Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Negril and the other tourist hotspots.
The evenings are even more magical and romantic, with the balmy weather and a butler on hand to announce that it’s time for dinner. A candle-light outdoor dinner served by uniformed wait staff is somehow a lot more appealing when it’s in the comfort and privacy of a private villa, especially more so when guests can dress casual. The magical quality is only enhanced some more by the menu, which includes things like coconut shrimp, curry goat and jerk chicken.
Kids will probably end up enjoying the holiday a whole lot more than the parents. The beach is a few steps out the door and the staff knows exactly what the children need. This means burgers, pizzas, shakes, mac & cheese and all that’s good. A standard issue breakfast includes eggs & bacon, pancakes, banana plantains, cereal, etc with lots of fresh fruits and freshly squeezed orange juice.
The nanny takes charge of the kids, and makes sure they don’t stray too far or dig in too deep into the beach. Parents are, therefore, free to spend the day hanging from a hammock or lounging on a poolside deckchair. For those with energy to burn or a golf handicap to improve, there’s plenty of golf courses and tennis courts all over Jamaica.
The beach is good for all kinds of activities during the day, including water sports and horseback riding on the beach. But the fun part usually begins after the sun goes down, with beach parties and barbeques. Every resort town in Jamaica also offers lots of urban pleasures, including shops & galleries, bars, restaurants and live music.
Whether it is the Caribbean weather or the beaches or the warm hospitality, it’s a fact that many Caribbean villas attract guests to come back again and again. With all the luxury and privacy and incredible service, it’s an offer that’s a bit hard to refuse or find elsewhere. Whatever the reason, the bottom-line is that Jamaica has a habit of making sure vacationers go back very, very happy.
Since their inception, they have created and sustained an exceptionally high level of expertise, experience, Caribbean villa selection and attention to detail.

On a cold, gray morning in late January 2000, the historic Mapes Hotel in Reno was imploded by 75 pounds of explosives tucked into the art-deco structures support columns. The controlled demolition came despite years of effort by a number of groups within the community and nationally to preserve the building with lawsuits, redevelopment proposals, and grass roots lobbying efforts.
While the efficacy and justification of demolishing the Mapes is debatable, one thing that is not is the glorious history of the hotel. It was built in’47, and signaled the start of the modern era of casino gambling. Despite the notoriety of Bugsy Siegel and the Flamingo in Las Vegas, it was the Mapes that became the first building in the nation to have a hotel, casino and live entertainment under one roof. It also became the hotel of choice for celebrities staying in Northern Nevada. Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe stayed at The Mapes during the filming of ‘The Misfits’. Joseph McCarthy, America’s famed anti-Communist crusader, admitted to a reporter over cocktails in the Mapes Lounge that he really didn’t have a list of Communists in the US despite his frequent and vitriolic insistence to the contrary.
During the ‘Rat Pack’ era of the 50’s and 60’s it became along with the Cal-Neva Lodge in Lake Tahoe the place to be seen in Northern Nevada. The 11th floor, window walled Sky Room Lounge hosted performances by a roster of entertainment legends including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin, Louis Prima, Keely Smith, Milton Berle and Mae West. Downtown Reno struggled during the’60’s and 70’s but the Mapes continued to prosper. The hotel finally closed in’82, due to financial problems experienced by the Mapes Family brought about by their other Northern Nevada casino holdings.
While the last twenty years brought an amazing boom in the population and economy of Southern Nevada, the Northern part of the state didn’t see much of it at all. For that reason, the urgency of destroying the Mapes is even more questionable. In the Las Vegas area, its easy to justify the demolition of older hotels with simple economics–the older properties simply can’t compete in the current mega-resort dominated marketplace. Furthermore, the insane valuation of the land on which they sit makes it financially unfeasible to preserve them as pop culture museums.
That’s not the case in Reno, where vacant land and/or buildings ripe for redevelopment are abundant downtown and in the other casino areas of the city. The official reason that the Mapes had to come down was that the city needed the land to expand its vision for downtown redevelopment. While this is certainly a much needed effort, to suggest that the existence of the Mapes was a barrier is absurd. In fact, many of the proposals rejected by the city would have gone a long way to enhance the revitalization of downtown Reno and included artists lofts, office space and other mixed used properties. Despite receiving a number of viable concepts for the Mapes Building, the City Redevelopment Authority rejected all of them and the Mapes was destined for demolition.
The role of the City Redevelopment Authority was questioned throughout the process. Overlooking the Truckee River, the hotel was on a prime location between the downtown casino area and the riverfront district. Back in’96, the city of Reno purchased the hotel and began entertaining proposals for renovation and redevelopment. A number of sound financial proposals were presented that would preserve the integrity of the structure including condominiums, office space, and perhaps most viable, upscale senior apartments. Oddly, all of these proposals were turned down by the citys Redevelopment Agency which eventually led to the demolition of the structure.
After the demolition of The Mapes Hotel, the lot remained vacant for almost a year until a temporary ice skating rink was constructed in the winter of 2001. The site now houses a permanent ice skating rink which, while not a bad use for the land, brings into question the insistence by the City Redevelopment Agency that none of the proposals to preserve the building were viable. Clearly, they had no specific plan or even general idea of what to do with the land but for some reason wanted to see the hotel come down. This has led to all manner of speculation, ranging from financial self interest to a rumor that the structure was ‘haunted’ and needed to be destroyed to forestall future paranormal activity in Washoe County. Whatever the reason, the city of Reno lost a valuable landmark of a more civilized era.

South America will host the Summer Olympic Games for the first time in 2016, as Rio De Janeiro, Brazil was awarded the honor on Friday. Rio beat out the US choice of Chicago, Illinois along with Tokyo, Japan and Madrid, Spain to earn the right to host the games. Despite a high pressure effort from the American power elite–including President Barack Obama and TV gabfest queen Oprah Winfrey–Chicago was the first city eliminated from contention. Tokyo was the next to go, before Rio got the nod over Madrid in the final round of balloting.
Bookmakers offered odds on the host city choice, with Rio listed as second favorite at +200. Chicago had been the wagering favorite at most books, particularly after President Obama got involved personally in the US bid effort. Chicago was bet as high as a -300 favorite, while Madrid and Tokyo were priced in the +250 range. Some suggest that Tokyo didnt deserve to have such short odds, but was the beneficiary of regional pride from the notoriously enthusiastic betting population of Japan.
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, got the better of his US counterpart with a passionate speech that stood in marked contrast to Obamas typically baleful collection of talking points;
“It is a time to address this imbalance. It is time to light the Olympic cauldron in a tropical country.”
The Olympic committee was apparently swayed by this presentation and paid no mind to Rios many downsides. It is without a doubt the most dangerous of the finalist cities, where drug cartels and armed bands of thugs roam without impunity. Well do to Rio citizens are used to removing watches and jewelry before they drive anywhere lest they be targeted by carjacking brigands. Rios murder rate is also one of the highest in the world. Brazilian bid officials have stressed that security will be a priority at the games and it better be lest the Olympics turn into a bloodbath.
Some IOC members suggested that the summary dismissal of Chicagos bid was more of a rebuke of the notoriously corrupt USOC. The last two Olympics held in the US were tainted by crime and corruption. The’96 Atlanta Olympics were disrupted by a terrorist bombing, while the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games were marred by a well known bribery and corruption scandal.

Mitsuharu Misawa died in Hiroshima, Japan earlier this year less than a week before his 47th birthday. Akitoshi Saito hit a back suplex on Misawa, which appeared to knock him unconscious. Medical staff attempted to revive him in the ring, but when CPR failed he was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Initial reports in the Japanese media suggest that he was pronounced dead at the hospital, but a number of eyewitness accounts have speculated that he may have died in the ring.
That’s at least a small bit of solace amid the tragedy of Misawa’s death–he died in the ring doing what he loved, and what he did better than just about anyone on the planet. Not like Owen Hart died in the ring, doing a stupid stunt in a silly character that he was reportedly assigned as punishment for refusing to go along with a storyline he felt demeaning, but working the kind of brutally stiff, athletically realistic match that got a generation hooked on Japanese wrestling.
A top level amateur wrestler in high school, his skill gained the attention of All Japan Pro Wrestling president Shohei Giant Baba. Three years after his pro debut, he got his first big break in’84 when he was chosen as the second Tiger Mask replacing Satoru Sayama. In’90, he had his longtime friend and rival Toshiaki Kawada unmask him.
Misawa would wrestle as himself from then on, and become an even bigger star in the process. In June,’90 he became one of the top stars in All Japan Pro Wrestling when he defeated Jumbo Tsuruta. That match was his first main event appearance at the venue Cheap Trick made famous in America, the Nippon Budokan. He soon faced Triple Crown Champion Stan Hansen in an unsuccessful challenge for the title, and would become arguably the biggest native star in Japanese pro wrestling for the next decade.
He had legendary battles against Kawada, Hansen, Kenta Kobashi, and Steve Dr. Death Williams in singles competition. Misawa would continue as a mainstay in AJPW until the early part of this decade. After the death of Giant Baba, he left to establish Pro Wrestling NOAH. He would serve as the companys president while wrestling a full time schedule until his untimely death.
Japanese pro wrestling served as a gateway drug for many into shoot fight sports and MMA. Before the Internet, fans would trade videotapes to stay up on the latest matches from Japan and along with Jushin Thunder Liger and The Great Muta Keiji Mutoh it safe to say that Misawa is one of the wrestlers most responsible for getting a generation of American fans hooked on the product. For American fans at the time”and with the WWE at its creative low point”the All Japan and New Japan Pro Wrestling product was nothing short of a revelation.
